In order to fulfill our mandate of promoting education in art and culture at higher level, and to revive collaboration with national and international educational institutions having similar goals, a new training institute in the name of National institute of cultural studies (NICS) is set up at Lok Virsa, Islamabad. The excellence of this institute is to expose our young generation to different genres of traditional arts of Pakistan thus enabling them to enhance their knowledge, observation, imagination, and technical skills about crafts.

The main objective of the institute is to provide high quality, educational and training opportunities that are compatible to changing needs of the students. NICS seeks to produce innovative and internationally competitive professionals, armed with both theoretical and practical knowledge, committed to the development of our people and capable of providing leadership in the society, both in public and private sectors.

NICS draws its students from a variety of educational and ethnic composition in the country, thereby, meeting the challenges for maintaining the standard and quality of education, as well as creating equal opportunities for national and social integration through broad based education. Admission is open to all Pakistan national  regardless of color, creed, gender or age and is merit based within each category.
