National Newborn and Child Survival- "EVRY ONE" Campaign

 
Introduction:
EVERY ONE is a collaborative campaign of Save the Children and Ministry of Health's National MNCH Program. EVERY ONE campaign has been launched in over 40 countries aiming to meet globally agreed targets on cutting child deaths.

 

 

   

 

 

Aim of the campaign:
The campaign aims to ensure world leaders stick to their promises to cut child deaths by five million a year by 2015.

Inauguration Ceremoney:
Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was the chief guest of the inauguration ceremoney of the campaign that held in PM house Islamabad on 17th April, 2010.

Prime Minister's Speach:
While addressing the participants of the inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said:

"The Govermnent is making all-out efforts to achieve the targets set under the Millinium Development Goals aimed at providing quality health services to the massess. Public Health has always been a priority for the govenment and we are making collaborative efforts to improving health outcomes for newborns children and mothers. Over the years considerable progress has been made in reducing high levels of infant and maternal mortality. It is through initiatives that i forsee a Pakistan where no child or mother has to suffer because of lack of access to quality health services.

The EVERY ONE campaign is an extremely valuable initiative and reflects the national and international sincerity, commitment and vigour to contribute to health and development in Pakistan. A cadre of Community Midwives is being introduced which would be providing skilled birth attendance at the door steps of the communities. A total of 12000 community midwives will be inducted till 2012.Out of these 6000 have already received training and the rest are at various stages of recruitment and training.

The govenment will provide required financial resources to MNCH program even in the current times of financial crunch. Practical steps have been taken to bring reforms in health and allocated unprecedented budgetary for the sector.The government is committed to incremental and sequential increase in budgetary allocations for health and is targeting a three-fold increase in our GDP spending on health over the five years with particular focus on maternal and child health. The aim of the government is to provide quality health services in every corner of the country and we shall make sure that no child dies due to lack of health care."
