New Evidence in Maternal, Neonatal, Child health & Family Planning in Pakistan

 
Introduction:
A two-day National Maternal, Neonatal, Child Health (MNCH) and Family Planning (FP) Conference on "New Evidence in MNCH and FP- The Way Forward" held at Health Services Academy (HSA) on 1st December, 2010.

 

 

   
The conference was organized by Health Services Academy and National MNCH Program in collaboration with international partners. Participants from Ministry of Health, donors and other NGOs and scholars from various prestigious institutes and inernational organizations attended the conference.

Aim of the campaign:
This conference is an effort to bring together the researchers to deliberate on evidence created and illustrated, to share the experiences of service provision during complex emergencies and to deliberate on how various evidences produced can be main streamed into the MNCH Program for achieving MDGs 4 & 5.

The conference aims to strengthen MNCH by providing a platform to subject experts for sharing of scientific knowledge and experiences and by facilitating professional development in maternal, new born health and family planning in Pakistan.

Guests of honour:
This guests of honour included Minister of Health; Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Secretary Health; Khushnood Lashari and Professor Dr. Rasheed Juma; Director General, Ministry of Health.

HSA is committed to generating evidence for policy decisions to improve overall national health status in general and maternal and child health in particular. The sharing of scientific deliberations and collective wwisdom of all worthy professionals committed to take the process forward.

The conference discussed and deliberated how locally generated evidence can be mainstreamed in to the MNCH Programme for improving the Millenium Development Goals (MDG) 4 and 5. The conference was a platform in particular for HSA alumini and in general for local researchers to present their original work.
